In the book of Daniel chapter 3, we come to an interesting story of three Jewish men called Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They looked after affairs in Babylon and were held in high regard in the land. However, King Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon made a golden image and ordered the people to bow down and worship it.

Stating Daniel 3:6 ‘’and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.’’

The three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego point blank refused to worship the image and trusted in the power of Almighty God to rescue them. They were strong in their faith and even stated that even if God refused to help them, they wouldn’t change their mind! Can we think of such a blinding trust in God?

When the fire was burning in all its glory, there was a fourth person among the three men in the fire. What an astonishing site! God did not forsake them in their difficulty.

Their reality at the hands of the king was death. Yet in the face of death, they let go of their mindful thinking and trusted in Almighty God.

Stating Proverbs 3:5‘’Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.’’

Our physical understanding of a situation is what creates doubt in our minds. We try to comprehend the difficulties of any situation. Sometimes, the answer is not possible to obtain naturally.

We should not try and limit God to the fragment of our thinking. We like to believe that we understand God and his ways. Yet God is greater than our thinking and we must learn to trust God!

In Matthew 14, we encounter the story of Peter when he walks on water. Peter asked Jesus if it was really him on the water and requested Jesus to ask him to walk towards him.

Only Peter responded to the call of Jesus on the water and he did the impossible! He was the first human to walk on water. Even when Peter doubted once he was walking and fell, the Lord lifted him up and they walked together back to the boat.

Are you willing to respond to the call of God? Trust in God for the impossible! Remember we are the creator’s masterpiece and his beloved. No water or fire is large enough to draw us away from God and his love for us!
